Tomorrow’s Forecast have been carving out a fresh, energetic space in Meanjin’s music scene. Formed through high school music classes and a shared love of Australian music, Olive, Bonnie, Isaac, and Rohan have been playing together ever since. After debuting their first EP ‘Growing Pains’ in 2023, the band have played alongside Hockey Dad, Holy Holy, Full Flower Moon Band and Sesame Girl and most recently released their latest EP ‘Speaking Terms’ earlier this year. We caught up Olive to chat about their recent tour, favourite recent gigs, biggest influences and local acts they’re loving.
For fans of Wolf Alice, Momma and Wet Leg.

Can you tell us how Tomorrow’s Forecast formed? What brought you all together?
Bonnie and I (Olive) met in a digital technology class and became best friends. We both got super into music at the same time, we both grew up listening to Triple J and Australian music. We joined music excellence at our high school in Year 9 and started the band with a couple of our friends then. Once we graduated high school we got the chance to take it all a little more seriously, and ended up getting our high school best friends Isaac and Rohan to join. We all did music class together in our senior years, and had been playing together for a long time. It felt right and it’s been the same lineup for almost two years now.
You’ve been on tour this month across the country, what have been some of your favourite venues to play in?
Tour was so awesome, we really enjoyed our Naarm/Melbourne show, it was our first time playing there. We played Nighthawks in Fitzroy and it had a beer garden and pool table - two of our favourite things. The band space was super small and had fuzzy carpet, it was perfect for our first headline in Melb.
What would you say makes a live show special?
Honestly I think having our friends and family there supporting. One of my favourite things about moving to Magandjin/Brisbane is the incredible music community, seeing any of our peers at one of our shows always feels super special. There’s always so many incredible gigs on every weekend, and I feel honoured when people choose our show for the night.
What are some of the best gigs you’ve been to lately?
We saw Milly Strange open for Folk Bitch Trio at The Brightside recently - absolutely incredible. It was our first time at The Princess Theatre for Wunderhorse a couple weeks ago, the most insane set. I’m seeing Freak Slug and These New South Whales, both at the Crowbar, this week and I couldn’t be more keen.
What band/artist would you love to see live that you haven't yet?
That’s a tough one - really looking forward to seeing Geese, Wolf Alice and Pinkpantheress at Laneway next year.
Who would you say are some of Tomorrow’s Forecast’s biggest influences?
They definitely change per song but currently: Momma, Wolf Alice, Wet Leg, Beabadoobee and The Belair Lip Bombs
What song do you currently have on repeat?
Olive - Don’t Let Them Tell You (It’s Fair) by The Belair Lip Bombs
Bonnie - Wound Up Here (By Holdin On) by Wednesday
Rohan - drains by Mary In The Junkyard
Isaac - Pyramid of Health by Viagra Boys
Who are some up-and-coming acts in Meanjin/Brisbane that you're excited about right now?
A brand new band called Dirty Harry recently dropped their debut single ‘Japan’ could not be more addicted to it. Charlotte Meade has also released her debut track ‘Still Life’, we have played with her and she is incredible. I’m really excited about a lot of the new music coming out of this city.
Where would you take a friend visiting Meanjin/Brisbane for the first time? Any hidden gem spots-food, parks, shops etc. that you think more people should know about?
We always take our friends to The Burrow, which is such an obvious one. Shoutout to The Blue Poppy in Morningside as well (delicious food). Highgate Hill is one of our favourite spots too. We are still learning our way around the town but we love living on the south side.
Is there anything else you want the world to know about Tomorrow’s Forecast?
We are really excited to keep adventuring into our new sound, and we are currently in the midst of lots of new music YAY!!
