BEL is back with her first release of 2025: the aptly named ‘Fresh Start’.

The bouncy, playful drums are a highlight, holding the track together. The guitar tone — perfectly fuzzy — feels like Wallows or Tame Impala without the over-the-top reverb and compression. It sits politely in the mix, leaving plenty of space for the charming vocal arrangement.

There’s a very Clairo-esque moment in the pre-chorus that I adore. BEL describes the track as “a song about how change can be so painful yet beautiful. A song about how much I love my friends.” The happy/sad balance is struck masterfully. Lyrics like “Didn’t even think that it’d be this hard, I know I’ve been due for a fresh start, I keep tryna skip to the easy parts” capture the sentiment so perfectly and succinctly.

’Fresh Start’ is guaranteed to bring some light into your life and a spring in your step.
