North Carolina rock band Wednesday have announced their Australian return this May/June. The band will perform two nights at RISING Melbourne alongside a Sydney headline show at The Metro Theatre, presented by Mistletone.
Renowned for their Southern rock blend of outlaw grit, place-based storytelling, and towering noise, Wednesday will showcase songs from their acclaimed 2025 album Bleeds, widely hailed as one of the year’s best records. The album earned praise from outlets including Pitchfork, TIME, GQ, NPR, and Rolling Stone, while the band also made their TV debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Often described as the band’s definitive statement, Bleeds leans into Wednesday’s signature mix of country realism, indie-pop melody, and sludgy noise, anchored by Hartzman’s vivid songwriting and distinctive voice. Local supports across the run include Alien Nosejob (May 31), Season 2 (Jun 1), and Naaki Soul (Jun 3).
Following a breakout Australian debut in 2024 with appearances at Golden Plains, MONA FOMA, and Perth Festival, Wednesday have continued their global rise, recently selling out London’s Roundhouse. Their return to Australia promises another powerful and communal live experience as the band continues to cement their reputation as one of the most compelling acts in contemporary rock.
